Mike’s U-shaped kitchen in Wokingham had good, solid units, but the speckled grey laminate worktops and stainless steel inset sink were showing their age. Rather than replace the whole kitchen, Mike and his family chose new quartz worktops and a new sink, going for a lighter colour to brighten the room.
Before
Templating
We templated with the old worktops still in place, so the kitchen stayed in use right up to fitting day. The templates record every wall, corner, sink and hob position, so the new quartz is cut to fit this kitchen exactly.
What we did
- Supplied, templated and installed Redwood Select Essentials RSE201 Frost quartz, 20mm thick with a pencil round edge
- Cut out for an undermount sink (no drainer grooves) and for the hob
- The new 20mm quartz sits lower than the old 40mm laminate, which would have left a gap under the tiles. We removed the bottom row of tiles and fitted quartz upstands of about 120mm, finishing neatly against the tiling above
- Supplied and fitted a Schock Greenwich N-100L undermount single bowl sink in CRISTADUR Polaris white
- Mike kept his existing tap, but the flow was poor because of low water pressure, so we supplied and fitted a Salamander Tapboost single outlet booster pump
